1976
Costa Tomazos, the founder of Food Fund International, the parent company of Meat Co
1976

It all begins with Costa Tomazos, FFI Chairman. His restaurateur journey starts with opening one of the first steakhouse chains in South Africa, Squires Loft.

1984
Squires Loft was one of the predecessors of Meat Co
1984

After establishing a loyal customer base, Costa lists Squires Loft on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

1986
In 1986 Squires and Ster-Kinekor merged to become Interleisure
1986

Business magnate Sol Kerzener reverse-lists Ster-Kinekor (a leading entertainment brand) into Squires Loft to create Interleisure.

2000
The first Meat Co was launched in 2000
2000

Costa and his son, Johnny Tomazos, found FoodFund International. They launch The Meat Co restaurant in Sandton, South Africa.

2003
The first Meat Co in Dubai was opened in 2003
2003

FoodFund International goes global! The Meat Co expands into Dubai.

2017
By 2017 The Meat Co team consisted of over 1,100 people in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait

As FFI’s restaurant offering diversifies, the team grows to 1100 passionate people across the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain..
